WHEN WILL I RECEIVE CAMP COWBOY REGISTRATION INFORMATION?
Camp Cowboy registration information will be sent by e-mail or mail mid to late March to all accepted incoming fall semester freshmen. It will be sent via the address in Oklahoma State’s student information system.

How far in advance do i need to register for camp cowboy ?
You should register as soon as possible as some of the early camps will fill up fast. However, the latest you can register is 14 days before the first day of the chosen camp.

I’VE ALREADY SENT MY REGISTRATION CARD IN. WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I GOT THE SESSION I WANTED?
Once we receive your registration, we will assign you a session and mail a confirmation. If you do not receive a response within two weeks of returning your card, please contact us.

HOW DO I PAY FOR CAMP COWBOY?
There are two different ways to pay for Camp Cowboy. The first will be through the mail. You can pay by check, money order or credit card. The second way is by registering online and paying with a credit card.
The OSU Alumni Association also offers a Camp Cowboy fee waiver for Oklahoma legacies. If you live in Oklahoma and your parents or grandparents are members of the OSU Alumni Association, you may apply for a fee waiver to attend Camp Cowboy. Call (405) 744-5368 to receive an application. A limited number are available.

WHAT IF I NEED TO FLY IN FROM OUT OF STATE?
Transportation is available, but only from the Tulsa airport. Your flight must arrive between 5-8 p.m. on the night before the camp’s opening date. Return flight needs to be scheduled after 8 p.m. on the last day of camp. There will be a $30 fee for transportation services to and from the airport, as well as to and from any hotels we have listed. (This fee must be mailed or paid upon arrival.)

ARE THERE PLACES TO STAY IF I NEED TO COME EARLY?
There are a few options. There is limited space available in Scott Hall for $25 per night. Please call (405) 744-5019 or (405) 744-6906 to check availability and reserve a room. If the residence hall is full, campers also can make reservations at the Atherton Hotel (formerly known as the Student Union Hotel). You may call the hotel directly at (405) 744-6835 to check availability or make a reservation.

WHAT TIME DOES CAMP COWBOY START?
Check-in is from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Detailed instructions will be included in the confirmation.

CAN I CHANGE THE SESSION DATE I SIGNED UP FOR?
Unfortunately, session change requests are not accepted.

WHAT IS THE DRESS FOR CAMP COWBOY?
An important thing to remember is that Camp Cowboy is outdoors in the middle of the Oklahoma summer. However, the cabins and lodge are climate controlled. Normal dress might include shorts, T-shirts and tennis shoes.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You will need comfortable clothes, clothes for the dance, old clothes for recreation time, swimsuits, tennis shoes, bedding (sheets, blanket and pillow), toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc), towels, shower shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen, water bottle, bug spray, flashlight and plenty of ORANGE AND BLACK PRIDE!!!

WHAT is included in my $150 registration fee?
Food catered from local Stillwater restaurants

Lodging at Camp Redlands on the shore of Lake Carl Blackwell

Transportation to and from the campgrounds

One official Camp Cowboy T-shirt (to be worn on last day)

High and low elements ropes course

I DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME THIS SUMMER. IS CAMP COWBOY REALLY WORTH IT?
Camp Cowboy will be an unforgettable experience. The three days you spend at camp will impact you for the rest of your life. You will meet some of your first new OSU friends and begin making connections for life. Mark Camp Cowboy on your schedule now (you have several months to plan).

I THINK I KNOW OSU TRADITIONS WELL ENOUGH; DO I REALLY NEED TO GO?
Camp Cowboy is so much more than just learning about OSU traditions. You’ll meet new people, develop lasting friendships, learn important skills all freshmen need and most of all - have fun!

I’M NOT A VERY SOCIAL PERSON. IS CAMP COWBOY REALLY THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT FOR ME?
Camp Cowboy can help bring you out of your shell. Studies at similar college freshmen camps have shown that 16 percent of campers considered themselves “shy” when they first set foot on campus. After camp, 61 percent of campers felt that they had become more outgoing or more easygoing for having attended the camp.
