Fraternity and Sorority Affairs
Spring Sing 2008
Ten fraternities and sororities will perform choral-style productions as part of the annual Spring Sing competition.
Spring Sing 2008 will be April 5 at 5:30 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba arena. Money raised through ticket sales will benefit Coaches v. Cancer, a nonprofit organization that raises money for cancer through the good-will of college coaches.
“Spring Sing is typically the last competitive event of the year for fraternities and sororities at OSU,” Caitlin Pastor, executive director said. “Thousands of friends and family members show up to watch, and we use this opportunity to give to a deserving cause.”
The Spring Sing executive committee chose “Satisfaction” as this year’s theme. Each group will incorporate a Rolling Stone’s song into their production.
Each production will last about six minutes. Groups use the theme “Satisfaction” to create their own unique story line. Group acts are judged on musicality, theme originality, costumes and choreography. The top five acts will receive awards.
Tickets to the event will be $10 in advance and will be on sale March 31-April 4 at the Student Union Hub. They can be purchased at the door for $12 the day of the performance.

Spring Sing began at OSU in 1966. Coaches v. Cancer became the beneficiary in 2005. To date, more than $23,000 has been donated.

Coaches Versus Cancer
The Coaches vs. Cancer program was created in 1993 by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The program exists to leverage the strength, community leadership and celebrity of our country’s basketball coaches to fight cancer. The program raises awareness to the cancer problem and in turn, reduces cancer risk through education programs while raising funds for American Cancer Society research, advocacy, education and patient services programs. Since its inception, the Coaches vs. Cancer program has raised more than $30 million to benefit the American Cancer Society, the nation’s leading voluntary health organization.
The OSU Coaches vs Cancer (CvC) campaign ranks first in the Big 12, first in the High Plains division and in the top ten nationally in dollars raised. Both the OSU CvC campaign and former coach Eddie Sutton have been nationally recognized with awards from the American Cancer Society for their fundraising efforts. Just in the past five years, OSU’s Coaches vs Cancer campaign has raised over $600,000 for the fight against cancer. In addition to various fundraisers throughout the year, Coach Sean Sutton and his Cowboys have conducted various hospital visits to pediatric oncology units throughout the state of Oklahoma.
