OSU ALUM & NELSON MANDELA SCHOLAR to speak on AFRICA today in AG HALL at 3:30 p.m.
Mmatlou Kalaba, a Mandela Scholar from South Africa who holds a masters degree in Agricultural Economics, International Trade, from OSU (1999-2001), has returned to campus to offer a seminar this afternoon, Friday January 18, 2008 at 3:30 in AG Hall 410.
He will speak on "Regional Integration in Southern and Eastern Africa: the Role of the Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union."
Mmatlou Kalaba is now a consulting economist in trade and economic research with the Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS), a non-profit organization in Pretoria, South Africa. He was formerly employed by the National Agricultural Marketing council and the National Department of Agriculture as an economist, both in South Africa. He specializes in capacity building, as well as applied analytical and methodological tools in Southern Africa. Mr. Kalaba’s visit is hosted by the Department of Agricultural Economics.

This week at iSo
Thank you for coming to the iSo Welcome Back Party last Friday night. It is always fun to see old friends again and even more fun to welcome new ones.
The International Student Organization would like to invite you to participate in our annual International Bazaar - Saturday, February 23rd from 10am - 2pm at the Wes Watkins Center. (This event is listed on February 16th within the mortarboard; however, there has been a schedule change since its publication.). Display and exhibit booths will be set up by iSo's Area Clubs, as well as various campus clubs in order to sell food, souvenirs, etc. and to share any other aspects of the cultures you represent with people of all ages.

OSU is Closed MONDAY in Honor of MLK Day
Monday (01-21-08) is considered a University Holiday in honor of the late Dr. Martin Luther King. The Student Union will be closed on both Sunday and Monday but re-open on Tuesday morning. ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT OFFERS FREE TYPING CLASS
During February, there will be a free keyboarding/typing class to help improve your skills when typing papers for classes. We will meet on Mondays from 3:30-4:30pm on Feb. 4, 11, 18, and 25 in 106 Morrill. There are only 24 computers, so space will be given on a first come basis. TAX WORKSHOPS TO BEGIN SOON…..volunteers needed
The International Tax Coordinator for ISS (Linda Dunbar) will help to coordinate workshops to assist international students in the process of filing income tax forms. These workshops will not begin for a couple of weeks but Linda is seeking volunteers to assist her with the workshops. So if you are interested in gaining some valuable experience, please contact Linda Linda.dunbar@okstate.edu
