Teach For America is excited to announce an International Students Pilot Program!

This program will enable international students pursuing a degree in math or science to join “Teach For America” for the first time in 2008.

Teach For America’s mission is to enlist America’s most promising future leaders in the movement to eliminate educational inequity by calling our most promising future leaders to commit to teach in urban and rural public schools and to become lifelong leaders to expand educational opportunity for all. They seek the most outstanding graduating college seniors, graduate students, and working professionals, who have the leadership skills to change the prospects of students growing up today and, ultimately, to effect fundamental changes in our society that will make it a place of equal opportunities.

Previously, Teach For America’s admissions prerequisites required that applicants are U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents. The new International Students Pilot Program will enable students holding a valid F-1 visa and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in math, statistics, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, or other sciences to apply to Teach For America.
