Campus Safety and Emergency Notification System
Safety is always a concern for parents and OSU has taken several steps to enhance campus safety. Please read the following excerpts from a letter from OSU President and CEO, Dr. Marlene Strathe.
OSU has a number of resources in place to address campus security, including:
- A highly skilled and readily available police department capable of responding to any campus incident or crime.
- Cooperative agreements are in place with the Stillwater Police Department if additional assistance is needed.
- OSU has implemented a new emergency notification system called Code Red. It is quick and easy to register cell phones for voice and text alerts. Open your O-Key account (www.okey.okstate.edu) to register for this vital service.
- The University Counseling Service has professional counselors available at any time to assist with employee or student concerns. Counseling staff can be contacted at 744-5458 or through the OSU Police Department at 744-6523 after 5p.m. during the week or on weekends.
- An experienced threat team is staffed and prepared to assess and take appropriate action to address any threatening conduct by any member of the university community.
- Sirens will soon be in place at key areas around the campus, significantly increasing our ability to make public announcements in an emergency.
