Why I wanted to be a Camp Cowboy Director:

It says it all in our Alma Mater, “loyal and true” and that is something I believe in stoutly.  Through my actions and accomplishments I hope to share with others what has brought me where I am today.  Without Camp Cowboy and Oklahoma State I would have never have realized what potential I have.  It has been a gateway to many opportunities, friends, and teachers that have been the keys to my success.  By being a director is only a small sample of my appreciation for what I can give back to the University that has showed me so much.  I want to be a part of other people’s life, and guide them along a path that makes them what they want to be.

What do I hope to accomplish as a Camp Cowboy Director?

With hard work and determination I have put in many hours of volunteering for a multitude of organizations on campus.  If I lead by example I can show others that you can take pride in no matter what you do.  A volunteer is the most important aspect to any organization that takes pride in the work that they do.  If I can instill this belief in to as many people as possible, then my only hope is that they can show others the same as well.

Favorite Camp Cowboy Memories:

The more and more I think about this … it makes me smile just as much.  I have gone to many camps over the past few summers, including my incoming freshman year, and the best memories have been the one-on-one conversations that I have had with many individual campers, staff, and directors.  I remember everyone the best that I can, and try to leave a lasting impression of Oklahoma State that I know they will carry on for their college career.

Major: Physiology/PreMed

Year: Junior

Hometown: Tulsa, Ok.

Why I wanted to be a Camp Cowboy Director:

I want to be a Camp Cowboy Director because I want to continue on the great tradition of helping freshman feel more comfortable with their new environment as well as introducing them to other freshman that have the same thoughts and concerns about their college experience. I also want to pass on my enthusiasm that I have for Oklahoma State University, the student body, and the traditions that both of them encompass.

What do I hope to accomplish as a Camp Cowboy Director?

As a Camp Cowboy director I want to accomplish the objective of passing on the Cowboy spirit to the up and coming freshman, as well as help the freshman see how much tradition and how great of an institution that Oklahoma State is. Also I want to show them that Oklahoma State is not only a school, but it will be their home for the next four or maybe five years.

Favorite Camp Cowboy memories:

I have way too many Camp Cowboy memories to list. My past three summers have consisted of Camp Cowboy. One of the summers was as a camper, and the other two were as a wrangler. I like when Pistol Pete comes to talk, as well as the closing session in the little theatre. One of my favorite Camp Cowboy memories came from the first camp that I worked as a wrangler. I fell into a couple of skits, playing parts that no one else would play.  One of the more well known skits has turned myself and my co-star Matt Morgan into instant stars. At the time I was pretty embarrassed, but the more I thought about the more hilarious it became. It is something that I will never forget, because I can obviously tell I made an impact on some freshman.

Major: Business Management & Finance

Year: Sophomore

Why I wanted to be a Camp Cowboy Director:

I wanted to be a director for Camp Cowboy because it is a rewarding experience to be able to ease the transition to college for incoming freshmen. I was a camper two summers ago and through that experience I learned important information for surviving college that I still use today. I also met so many fun people before I even set foot on the campus of Oklahoma State. Last summer I worked on staff and had a chance to meet new freshmen and talk to them about transitioning to college and the importance of involvement, time management, and meeting new people. Camp Cowboy helped me in my transition to college and I truly believe that Camp Cowboy is one of the best and most helpful programs Oklahoma State has to offer.

What do I hope to accomplish as a Camp Cowboy Director?

As a Camp Cowboy director this year I hope to accomplish a successful summer full of fun camps but most importantly I want the campers to have a wonderful, informational and exciting time at camp. Ultimately, I hope that campers take something away from camp that will help him or her in their time at Oklahoma State.

Favorite Camp Cowboy memories:

I have so many wonderful memories from Camp Cowboy. I would have to say that my best Camp Cowboy memories were from the session where I was a camper. Everything was a surprise and it was so fun to be able to meet so many people and get to know older college students. Many of the people I met at Camp Cowboy I am still friends with today. I am looking forward to Directing Camp Cowboy this summer so I can share the fun of Oklahoma State University with numerous incoming freshmen.

Why I wanted to be a Camp Cowboy Director:

When I came to camp as a camper, I was aware of most of the traditions and ideas behind OSU and Stillwater.  So for me, going to camp was a way to meet new people and get outside of my fairly small high school circle.  I didn’t have very high expectations that camp would do that for me but I told myself that I would give it my best shot, and boy was I amazed.  I met so many amazing people at camp that summer that I knew right away that I would want to be a counselor.  I applied and became a counselor for this past summer.  Being able to be on the other side of camp was just as rewarding.  It was very exciting to see the incoming freshman and talk to them about everything that OSU has to offer.  Camp Cowboy has given me so much that I wanted to do all that I could to give back, and that is one of many reasons why I wanted to be a Camp Cowboy Director.

What do I hope to accomplish as a Camp Cowboy Director?

First off, I want to let as many people as possible know about Camp Cowboy.  I want to carry on the great tradition of Camp Cowboy.  I hope to facilitate an environment where campers can feel like they could move to Stillwater tomorrow, and know where they need to go, not feel left out, and have friends and people that they can count of for advice and help throughout the college experience.

Favorite Camp Cowboy memories:

I have countless memories from camp.  The spirit rally, wranglers skits, and perfecting my dancing skills never get old. With that being said, some of my greatest memories are some of the random times that could only happen at camp cowboy.  Jenga marathons while downing a 100 count bag of smarties is one such example.  Overall,  the people make Camp Cowboy and I have met some of the most amazing people through camp that I might not have ever had the chance to meet.
