Fifteen Cowgirls are preparing to perform a variety of talents and showcase communication skills as they compete for the title of Miss OSU on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 at 8 p.m. in the Seretean Center Concert Hall on the Oklahoma State University campus.
Women between the ages of 17 and 25 attending any Oklahoma State University campus are encouraged to apply for entry into the annual pageant. The pageant seeks women who will excel in the following categories: personal interview, on-stage question, physical fitness in swimsuit, talent and evening wear. The winner and four runner-ups will be awarded one of five scholarships ranging between $150 and $1,200.
Brandon Mitts, Office of Arts, Culture and Entertainment manager, is the Miss OSU executive director. He encourages women to participate to improve leadership skills and gain confidence.
“This year’s contestants are very professional,” Mitts said. “It might be the best group of contestants we’ve ever had.”
The pageant serves as an official preliminary to the Miss America Pageant, and Miss OSU will be eligible to compete in the Miss Oklahoma pageant in 2018.
Miss OSU tickets are general admission and are $10. They can be purchased by visiting tickets.okstate.edu. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
