Access to the Student Union Parking Garage

Construction has begun around the Student Union and will continue over the course of the next few months. This construction will effect traffic flow in and out of the Student Union parking garage. We appreciate your patience as we are challenged with adjusting traffic routing.  We are confident the end result of the project will be beneficial to all and will make significant improvements to the beauty of the south end of campus.  Below is the impact of the project.

Phase I of the project (beginning January 5, 2009). The following traffic/access restrictions will be in effect:
Hester St. will be closed to through traffic north of University Ave.;
Access to/from the Student Union Parking Garage will be from University Ave., only;
Access from Hester St. to the Student Union/Atherton loading dock(s) for commercial deliveries will be provided from the north;
Access to the Alumni Center Parking Lot (Lot 20) will be restricted to the south entrance on Hester St. (via University Ave.)
   
Upon completion of Phase I (tentatively scheduled for Monday, January 26, 2009), the Hester St. entrance/exit to the Student Union Parking Garage will be reopened and the following Phase II traffic/access restrictions will go into effect:
University Ave. will be closed from/to and including Monroe St. and Knoblock St.;
Hester St. will be closed south of the SU Parking Garage entrance/exit (north of University Ave.) to 3rd Ave.;
Access to and from the SU Parking Garage will be Athletic Blvd. and then south on Hester to the garage entrance/exit across form the Alumni Center;
Knoblock St. will be closed south of Maple Ave. (Qdoba south) to and including University Ave.;
The south sidewalk, street returns and driveways are scheduled to be completed before Fall Recruitment Week;
The entire project will be reopened to traffic before the homecoming game;
Local access to all properties will be maintained throughout the project.
