Allied Arts Hosts 90th Season
For decades OSU Allied Arts has brought top-notch talent to the Oklahoma State University campus. This year is no different as OSU Allied Arts has booked seven energetic and inspirational performances to Stillwater for its 2018-2019 season.
Kayla Loper, Arts, Culture, and Entertainment interim manager is excited to continue Allied Arts’ historic tradition of bringing unforgettable performances to the Stillwater community.
“This season will be one to remember,” said Loper. “We wanted to celebrate our 90th season with amazing performances, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. As always, this season will bring huge talent to our community at an affordable price.”
The season kicks off with a lot of laughter on Sept. 28 with The Second City, a comedic group boasting many Saturday Night Live! alumni. Next, enjoy some of the best poets in the nation when Red Dirt Poetry comes to town on October 16. The female a capella group, Nobuntu, brings amazing music, ranging from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Gospel, on October 24 followed by music that’s a little funkier when Big Sam’s Funky Nation visits November 30. If you like dance, you won’t want to miss Ailey II when it brings top-notch dancing to Stillwater on February 15. The season continues on March 12 when Aquila Theatre brings Mark Shelley’s “Frankenstein” to Stillwater. End this historic season with Norwegian all-female brass ensemble, tenThing on April 6.
Allied Arts performances are held at 8 p.m. in the OSU Seretean Center Concert Hall located at the intersection of Morrill and Knoblock, with the exception of Red Dirt Poetry Night, which will be held at 7 p.m. at Backstage Stillwater. Season tickets are currently on sale at affordable rates for both OSU students and community members. Individual performance tickets range from $10 for children 12 and under to $20 for adults.
