Galentine's | Valentine's | February 14
February is here, and we are here for it. You’ve survived the first month of 2019, and hopefully you’re hitting your rhythm. And just when life is going smoothly and we stop mistakenly writing last year’s date on all our papers, February 14 hits us right in the face. Every year this creeps up, and before we know it, there are red and pink decorations next to flowers and chocolates EVERYWHERE. Although Valentine’s Day is important to a lot of people, it’s important to remember the world doesn’t revolve around one day, and there are plenty of other things going on. Whether you’re excited about Valentine’s Day this year or are begging for February 14 to come and go, we’ve got you covered. Keep reading for tips to survive February, no matter if you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day or just plain ol’ February 14. ⬇️
When February 14 sneaks up on you.
This might be the most cliché Valentine’s Day gift, but there’s no denying that people LOVE chocolate. If you need to pick some up, simply stop by Twenty-Something, Union Express, Fast Break or Adam’s Market. These locations have boxes of chocolate for that special person.
Everyone loves getting a rose, and the University Store wants to help you out. On Valentine’s Day, spend $50 and get a free rose. We know what you’re thinking, “wow that’s a lot of money to spend for just one rose,” but think of it like this: There are a lot of new arrivals at the University Store, so shop around now and pick out a couple of things you want, and treat yourself on Valentine’s Day. It’s a win-win. You get something you want and a rose for your significant other. Check out some of the new items here.
Ballin’ on a budget? Or just want a low-key date night for Valentine’s Day? Fear not, we’ve got you covered. Stop by your favorite dining location on campus (might we recommend Chick-fil-A or North Dining), grab your favorite meal, take it to go, and head back to your residence hall. Get out your paper plates and light your Scentsy (remember, no open flames in the residence halls). Voilà, date night. This might seem like a last-minute, cheap date, but it’s also charming, and really, the most important thing is being with your person. Enjoy!
“What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year.” (we really hope you got that Leslie Knope reference.)
Galentine’s Day is all about the ladies, and SUAB is hosting its own Galentine’s Day event this year. On Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in North Dining, join SUAB for a night of fun that will include a showing of “Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again!,” stuffing plush conversation hearts and FREE caramel corn! And the best part? Pajamas. Come in PJs for maximum comfort.

If February 14 is nothing more than a date on your calendar, don’t worry. This year, forget the chocolates, flowers and romantic dates. Instead, focus on you.

A little shopping never hurts, right? Spend the night in this year, and give yourself some self-love. Shop some new OSU gear at shopokstate.com. If you’re not looking to spend too much, check out some of the accessories at the store (like these stickers that are great for laptops or water bottles).
One of our favorite things to do any day of the year, but especially on February 14 is treating ourselves to a date night. Go get yourself your favorite meal, turn on the TV and watch your favorite movie, or the series you’re currently binging on Netflix. Before you know it, you’ll be asleep on the couch and you’ll be waking up on February 15.
Get caught up on some homework. Give the Union a visit and get to work on that project that is due soon. The best part? Anyone else you see in the Union will probably be doing the same thing.
You Do You
Valentine’s Day? Galentine’s Day? February 14? No matter what your plans are this year, have an amazing time.
