Flood Update

Updated Thursday, March 6 - 5:30 p.m.
Progress continues to be made in the building. We have been able to open a few more spaces, including the Student Union Ballroom and the French Lounge located on the second floor.  The south elevator is also operational. A portion of Cowboy Underground and Study Aboard in the basement are also open. Some offices will be temporarily relocated while remediation/remodeling work continues in their areas. Those relocated include:

Center for Sales and Service Excellence (Rooms 213D,M)
Concurrent Programming (Room 213E)
Pre-Professional Health & Law Support Services(Rooms 213A-C)
Student Union Activities Board (Rooms 213G-H)

Student Union Meeting & Conference Services (Room 430)
University Dining Services Administration (Rooms 214E-F)
• Military-Affiliated Student Support (Rooms 213J,L)

The Office of Multicultural Affairs continues to work remotely as their space is under renovation, but remain available to assist students, staff, etc. as needed. They can be reached at community@okstate.edu or 405-744-9154

As you can imagine, there is much work to still be done to aesthetically return the Student Union to pre-flood condition. We appreciate everyone's understanding and patience during this process.

Updated Sunday, Feb. 23 - 5:30 p.m.
The remediation company and staff have worked diligently all weekend and we are proud to announce all 10 Student Union dining options will be open normal hours beginning tomorrow. The Student Union will continue to work with affected offices/areas to determine next steps for their spaces opening.

Updated Friday, Feb. 21 - 10:15 a.m.
As the Student Union continues to recover from last weekend’s flood, the building will close at 6 p.m. this evening (Feb. 21). It will open at 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24. This will allow the remediation company additional time to make progress throughout the building. We appreciate your patience!

Updated Thursday, Feb. 20 - 3:30 p.m.
Following the university's inclement weather closures, the Student Union will reopen Friday morning (Feb. 21). We are happy to report we have made significant progress in our recovery efforts and wanted to share the latest update. We ask you to please excuse our mess, not touch any of the remediation equipment and respect closed areas.

• Basement – Simmons Bank will be open, but all remaining affected offices and the OSU Esports Arena will remain unavailable. Pete's Pantry will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  It will resume normal hours the week of Feb. 24. The middle level entrance to the parking garage will be open.

• First Floor – Union Chophouse Taqueria, Chick-fil-A, Plaza Corner Cafe, Shake Smart, Union Express and Caribou Coffee will be open normal hours. (Pizza by the slice will be served at Plaza Corner Cafe.)  Mambo Italiano, Red Earth Kitchen and Bread & Beyond Deli will remain closed. All building entrances will be accessible except the south entrance near The Atherton Hotel and The Rancher’s Club.

Updated Monday, Feb. 17 - 9:20 a.m.
Our dining staff has been hard at work bringing dining concepts online. ShakeSmart will open at 9:30 a.m. and Plaza Corner Cafe will open at 11 a.m.  Please be patient as cleanup around the Student Union continues. The only way to access these dining options are the northwest doors located across from Chi-O Clock and the north doors by the University Store.  The north hallway will be open to access ShakeSmart, Plaza Corner Cafe, Union Express and Caribou Coffee.

Updated Monday, Feb. 17 - 7:30 a.m.
Union Express will be open today. Dining staff will work diligently to keep the grab-and-go items sections stocked both at Union Express and Caribou Coffee.  University Dining Services hopes to open a couple other options today.  Please check this page or follow @osudining for the latest dining updates.

Updated Sunday, Feb. 16

The afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 16 the Student Union suffered a substantial pipe failure that has affected about half of the Student Union with a significant amount of water damage. Below are the areas mostly impacted.

• Basement – The west end of the building is closed to the public.  Those offices affected: Union Building Operations, University Dining Services, OSU Esports Arena, Cowboy Underground, Military Affiliated Student Support, OSU Professional Sales Lab, Retail Operations, Study Abroad, Simmons Bank, Silver Clippers, Pete’s Pantry and Pre-Professional Health & Law Support Services/Concurrent Programming.

• First Floor – Those offices/areas closed: Student Union Meeting & Conference Services and all dining operations except Caribou Coffee.

• Second Floor – Those offices/areas closed: Sequoyah Room, French Lounge, Student Union Ballroom, Hargis Leadership Institute, Student Union Activities Board, Office of Multicultural Affairs and a portion of the Campus Life administrative offices.

• Offices housed in the Student Services Center are open as well as the Student Union Theater. Classes scheduled in the SU Theater will be held. Offices on the third and fourth floor are also open to the public.

The only available entrances to the building are the first-floor north entrance located by the University Store and the second-floor southeast entrance by Undergraduate Admissions as well as the second-floor northeast entrance by Campus Life. All three of these entrances are accessible entrances.

The north elevators, located near Caribou Coffee, and the Student Services Center elevator are operational. The south elevator is not operational.

Dining options: Caribou Coffee is the only outlet in the Union that will be open on Monday, Feb. 16. We encourage you to visit Cafe Libro, which is the closest location the Union.  Otherwise, consider exploring other dining options on campus.

The Student Union is working closely with a water remediation company trying to get everything cleaned as much as possible and create a remediation plan.  Until that time, we ask for patience as we work to get the Student Union fully operational.

Updates to this page will be made as we progress through our remediation plan. We apologize for any inconvenience.
